Chris Wondolowski scored his first goal against former club, Houston Dynamo, last night, which would have been a special goal for the striker.
Chris joined San Jose Earthquakes back in 2009 and has had a very successful time. The forward has managed to score 113 goals in 206 appearances. But the one last night would have been extra special, as it was his first against his previous club since he left all them years ago.
People that know him would be surprised that this is his first against them since 2009. Chris Wondolowski spends three and a half years a Houston Dynamo, playing 37 games, scoring four goals. San Jose Earthquakes coach, Dom Kinnear, had this to say on the goal: ‘I am surprised. Because he seems to pop up with goals against everybody, and we talked to him and teased him a little bit about it this week, and I’m glad he got his first one against these guys.’
‘It would have been nice to have got the second one, I don’t care who would have got it, been nice if Chris would have got it, but just nice that he got one tonight.’
Chris Wondolowskialso had something to say after the game. It is clear that he is happy to have scored in the game, but he is disappointed that San Jose couldn’t get all three points. Here is what he had to say: ‘Houston’s always had a special place in my heart. I spent some great years here and it took a little while, but it’s a good thing.’
It’s a little frustrating to leave with a point, but there are also some positives as well.’
San Jose Earthquakes head coach has had a busy week as he has been trying to sort his team out, as well as managing the MLS All-Stars team, who faced Arsenal. He said that he had been managing San Jose in the mornings, before rushing off to coach the All-Stars in the afternoon.
He can now fully concentrate on his side once again, which will come to a huge relief.
