Vancouver Whitecaps defeat table toppers Philadelphia Union in their last league fixture, a result that delighted their fans.

LA Galaxy will be kicking themselves as they were looking at claiming all three points, only to see a Chad Barrett header find the back of the net. LA Galaxy only had themselves to blame as sloppy marking left them exposed at the back. The first half was a dull affair as neither team could make any headway and the second half looked like going the same way. However, things did look up for LA Galaxy as Giovani dos Santos opened the scoring in the sixty-ninth minute. It seemed like all three points were Galaxy’s that was until former Galaxy player Barrett popped up to level matters. LA Galaxy now faces Vancouver Whitecaps and should they win this fixture they will leapfrog them in the table and move up to 4th place if Portland Timbers lose their game.

Vancouver Whitecaps have every right to be happy as they took the points off table-toppers Philadelphia Union in their league encounter. Despite going a goal behind in the fourteenth minute, Andrew Jacobson soon got things back on track for Vancouver as he netted in the nineteenth minute. Just before half time, Kekuta Manneh gave Vancouver the lead linking up with Pedro Morales. Late into the second half, ChristianBolanos looked to have put the game to bed as he hit home in the eighty-fourth minute. However, Chris Pontius did give Vancouver a scare as he scored Philadelphia’s second, but it wasn’t enough, and Vancouver managed to see the game out to its final whistle and claim a very well earned three points.
