Lampard excited for LA Galaxy clash

Former Chelsea and Manchester City star Frank Lampard says that he is excited of the prospect of facing LA Galaxy, labelling it as one of the games which is circled in his calendar.

He said that the kind of games that are circled are the derbies against New York Red Bulls, the reunion with old Chelsea teammate Didier Drogba when NYCFC face Montreal, and obviously the LA Galaxy match.

Frank had this to say: ‘I’m going to try and see Ash and Stevie at the hotel. I’ve got a couple of Chelsea friends over from London for the the game a well. We might go and see then if I have the chance. But we’re focused. We’re friends, but in the build-up to games I like to keep my head down and Ashley is the same. If they stay over after the game the maybe we’ll share a dinner or a beer afterwards.’

When asked about the prospect of facing old Chelsea teammate Ashley Cole, he had this to say: ;We’re very close knit, all of us. It will be a pleasure again to play against Ashley. I played against and with him before. For me, the best left back England has ever produced and the best left back in the world for quite a consistent period.’

Frank Lampard also said that he has been a close admirer of the opposition since David Beckham joined them back in 2007. He said he had been over to watch some games, and has a huge amount of respect for Bruce Arena, the head coach of Galaxy. Here is what he had to say for himself: ‘I think he’s a world-class coach, not just for the MLS. I think he’s fantastically knowledgeable in the game and good with him player and he’s produced team after team. Even when a team changed a lot of players, he still manages to have a team that challenges.’

Frank also has something to say about the size of both clubs, and the quality which is in both sides: ‘I think it carries a bit more and good. I’m sure it does for both teams. We’re big franchises, both of us, big players, their will maybe be extra media attention and big crowed on the day. The basic is three points for both of us, we’re both fighting in different conferences. Of course there’s pride between players and when you’re playing against another big franchise you want to win.’
You can watch the game on Saturday the 20th of August, with the game kicking off at 15:00.
